WHAT IS EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHnIQUES (EFT)/TAPPING?

Simply put, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as tapping, is a powerful self-help tool that, once you know how to do it properly, can be used daily to reduce negative emotion to help you live a healthier, happier life.

Clinically described, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping is a scientifically proven technique that works to rewire the brain by sending calming signals to the amygdala, which is the stress centre of the brain (responsible for fight or flight). This allows both the body and brain to release limitations from negative experiences, emotions and thoughts that hold us back from creating the life we want. It can help with stress, anxiety, anger, sadness and other negative emotions. This can then clear limiting beliefs around money, health, relationships and, more importantly, complications surrounding childhood traumas or long-held resentments.

Clinical trials have shown that Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping is able to rapidly reduce the emotional impact of memories and incidents that trigger emotional distress, which can impact our daily lives. Once the distress is reduced or removed, the body can often rebalance itself, and accelerate healing.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping uses elements of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy, and combines them with acupressure, in the form of fingertip tapping on 12 acupuncture points. Over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals, including dozens of clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), pain, and other problems.

Having experienced the benefits first hand, I am passionate about Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping, hence my training, becoming a Certified EFT Practitioner and making it part of my daily practice. I want to help you in your personal and professional lives by using this incredible self-help tool.

WHAT IS COUNSELLING?

Like Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping, counselling focuses on specific problems, helping you make changes in your life and promoting and cultivating your mental and emotional wellbeing. Counselling helps you to explore and resolve issues. In my practice, I do this by providing a safe and supportive environment where you’ll feel comfortable and confident in sharing your challenges and stories to develop a better understanding about yourself to then solve your problems and work towards your personal goals and wellbeing.

The overall aim is to offer you an opportunity to work towards living more enjoyably and resourcefully.
As a counsellor my role is to facilitate your progress in ways that respect your values, personal resources and capacity for self-determination.

In summary, our thoughts and beliefs shape our experience and we have control over this. Fully experiencing your emotion helps you to heal and we need to work through the negative and challenging feelings to be able to find peace and live a happier, healthier life. Through Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping and counselling we can explore your thinking and beliefs to ascertain what is going on and work towards achieving your goals and being the person, you want to be.
