I am a mother, a daughter, a partner, a sister and a friend.
It's a phrase that's often over-used, but I genuinely am a 'People-Person'.
I am sociable, driven and I truly love connection with others - family, friends, people!
Seeing people happy makes me happy. I have built my career on my love for supporting people and I find nothing more fulfilling than helping someone feel good and at peace within themselves. It’s very likely that my being highly empathetic allowed me to get the most out of my work as a recruiter and in human resources; I find that helping someone land the job of their dreams is entirely rewarding.
Working as an EFT practitioner, EFT Mentor and Relationship Coach is a natural extension of the best elements of my career thus far.
Of course, we all have facets of our personalities that make each of us beautifully unique. These values, fears and motivations not only inspire our dreams, but they can also hamper our success at fulfilling them. Some of these traits are innate, others are accumulated over time as we experience challenges, difficulties and life milestones.
While each of us have our own paths to follow, today’s modern world provides us with common mountains to climb. I myself have encountered, and successfully scaled, a few of them.
In my early years, my parents separated, I was bullied throughout school, I struggled with the fact that I have a lazy eye and I lacked direction. As an adult, I lost my beloved dad and when I had my daughter I struggled to transition from ‘career women’ to ‘mum’—and then to both.
These experiences each had a profound effect on me for different reasons. There have been moments when I’ve felt sad, helpless, lost, heartbroken, anxious, stressed, guilty and even resentful. However, as I have reflected, worked on myself, grown and embraced these tough times, I have realized that they made me who I am and enabled me to help others.
It’s natural for setbacks to not only stall our progress, but take a significant emotional toll, too. As humans, when we go through a trauma we will do anything not to experience it again. This can result in us sabotaging our own progress without realizing it. We become guarded, we build mental barriers, we get—here comes that word-triggered by people and situations, and we fear we will fail or get hurt again.
This thinking or emotional baggage weighs us down. It shortens our vision and stops us from trying again, going out on a limb, dealing with further adversities, or experiencing fulfillment and joy. It can even have a major impact on our health. All areas are impacted by this – mind, body and spirit! I myself have been restrained by this maladaptive thinking and negative emotion and I followed my own healing journey.
I started working on some of these issues by seeing a mixture of counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists over the years. In a few of the sessions the approach just didn’t resonate with me. In others, I gained wonderful insights and helpful tools. At times I felt great, truly blessed, but there was always a part of me knowing that life could be better. I could feel more satisfied and I could be a better person to my loved ones and myself.
It was when I found Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, also known as ‘tapping’), and my major healing journey began, that my loftier aspirations were realised...
Since then, I have been living a more joyful and fulfilled life. I am proud of the fact that I am now more driven (working full-time and studying, whilst also being a mummy and partner), increasingly confident, and even more eager to help others. I am proud that I have turned my weaknesses into a source of strength and I’m super excited to help others do the same through EFT and counselling.
I’m happy to report that I have a successful career whilst being a damn good mum (being perfectly imperfect), partner, daughter, sister and friend.
Being a Certified Advanced EFT practitioner, Certified Relationship Coach and holding a Diploma of Counselling, I combine my 20 years’ of working with people, and experience in human resources and recruitment to help people understand themselves, so they can live a happier and healthier life wholeheartedly.
As I said before, I am a 'people person'. Even more so today than when I was playing with Barbies and doing gymnastics with my friends in primary school. This part of my character will forever be central to the person I am—I’ve just swapped the somersaults and handstands for TiffXo, yoga, meditation and weights!
