What is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)?

Simply put, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as tapping, is a powerful self-help tool that, once you know how to do it properly, can be used daily to reduce negative emotion to help you live a healthier, happier life.

EFT/Tapping is a self-administered stress management tool that is a groundbreaking technique combining psychotherapy and acupressure, bringing together elements of exposure, cognitive therapy and somatic stimulation.

Commonly known as ‘Tapping’, EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT’s developers see it as being similar to acupuncture but without the needles, and it has been referred to as ‘psychological acupuncture’. As with acupuncture, EFT stimulates various pressure points on the face and body to relieve stress, which then alleviates many psychological based concerns.

EFT is a powerful self-applied, stress reduction method based on extensive research that shows emotional distress contributes greatly to illness. EFT can address a range of issues by focusing on the issue you would like to address with an acceptance statement, along with a simple two finger tapping technique.

Having experienced the benefits firsthand, I am passionate about Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping, hence my training, becoming a Certified EFT Trainer, Practitioner and Mentor and making it part of my daily practice. I want to help you in your personal and professional lives by using this incredible self-help tool.


What are the benefits of EFT?

 

‘Rewires’ the brain.

By sending calming signals to the amygdala, which is the stress center of the brain (responsible for fight or flight), EFT works to rewire the brain. This allows both the body and brain to release limitations and energy disruptions from negative experiences, emotions and thoughts that hold us back from creating the life we want.

 

Combines approaches.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping uses elements of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy, and combines them with acupressure, in the form of fingertip tapping on 12 acupuncture points.

Promotes healing.

Clinical trials have shown that Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/Tapping is able to rapidly reduce the emotional impact of memories and incidents that trigger emotional distress, which can impact our daily lives. Once reduced or removed, the body can often rebalance itself, and accelerate healing.

 

Proven effective.

Over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals, including dozens of clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), pain, and other problems.
